Step 1. Click the "Messages" symbol on your Facebook homepage. The Messages symbol is located in the top left edge and looks like 2 little overlapping speech bubbles.

Step 2. Click the conversation having the message or messages you wish to remove. If it is not listed on the preliminary Messages pop-up home window, click "See All" to view every one of your private messages. Click the conversation on that listing including the message you wish to remove.

Step 3. Click the "Actions" switch and then click "Delete Messages" on the Activities drop-down menu.

Step 4. Click the check boxes located alongside the messages you want to remove.

Click "Delete" and after that click "Delete Messages" to confirm that you intend to remove the selected messages.

Tip
To remove an entire discussion as opposed to specific messages, click "Delete Conversation" after clicking the Actions menu in the 3rd step.

Warning
Deleting a private message in your Messages inbox does not erase it from the inbox of your discussion companion.
